User Language Programs (.ulp) use Eagle's User Language (pretty much an advanced scripting language) to do stuff that would normally be difficult, tedious, or impossible without them. Design Rules (.dru) are what the design rule checker (aka the idiot-checker) uses. Libraries (.lbr files) store the individual parts that you add to your board. When you close it, all windows that it opened get closed as well.Ī description of the various categories in the Control Panel: The control panel is the main window of Eagle. On Schematics, parts are laid out where they make sense electrically, on Boards, they are laid out where they physically make sense, thus a resistor that is right next to a part in the Schematic may end up as far away from that part as possible in the Board. Only in Board layout does it matter where the parts physically go. Note that the Schematic's job is only to define the parts and the connections between them. ![]() It defines the parts you have in your project, and which pins on the parts should be connected.īoard - This is where you lay out the pieces of your project and physically connect the correct pins as defined in the Schematic. ![]() Schematic - This is where you draw the schematic for your project. Advanced usage of this will not be covered in this tutorial Library - Allows you to manage and edit parts. When used properly, this allows you to work very rapidly, but it can also be a major source of aggravation if you are used to the Windows-y way of doing things.Įagle has four basic views: Library, Schematic, Board, and Control Panel.Ĭontrol Panel is the main window, it launches everything else and when you close it, all subordinate windows get closed. That is, you select one mode, perform it a bunch of times, as opposed to selecting an object and applying an single operation at a time. Hopefully its made sense - but I struggle to find the right words since the surgery sometimes, sorry.Eagle's UI is designed with what is called a modal interface. and J4 will be a SPDT switch - both going to be connected with wires, which is why I used J3 and J4 footprints.įorgive me but I haven't used the program before, and I would probably have been able to use it a lot better before I had brain surgery I've enclosed the circuit and layout I did but it might not make sense, I used 2 seperate smd inductors for the one smd that I cant find a footprint for The 2nd question is probably a simple one, but I cannot find the answerĪnd then fill in the blank area of the board with copper. The dimensions of the component are SMD size 1206 A 3.2 B 1.6 C 1.8D 0.7 E 0.6 (see diagram of component) Wurth WE-CNSW SMD Series Wire-wound SMD Inductor with a Ferrite Core The problem I have is I have no idea how to get a footprint for this component it's actually an inductor with 4 pads I'm trying to make a circuit and board, I've managed to get both designed but as some of the components aren't in the library I've used "generic" footprints to make do Even if you would just have one bug fix release every month or two, that would be huge. Please address all those issues you've heard about for so long. Maybe it's time for some good old fashioned housekeeping. It's just making the pile bigger and the problem yet that much more unmanageable. Why release yet another feature that will, no doubt, need maintenance in the form of at least bug fixes in lieu of providing maintenance for existing features for example, the resizeable window problem and many, many others? But some need help and they aren't getting it. All existing features in Diptrace were new at one point. They might need it some day and that's a good thing.īut this is forestalling the bigger issue. Obviously, all users would welcome this and no one in their right mind would ever complain about that whether they feel that they need it right at the moment or not. I understand you feel the need to be competitive and provide new features with a new release. ![]()
